Venues across North Yorkshire
Contrast/brilliance* celebrates North Yorkshire’s heritage and traditions through archive film and television, with a series of events and screenings, brought to you by Cine Yorkshire, Yorkshire Film Archive and Screen Yorkshire.
Yorkshire’s first ever festival of archive film will include events and screenings across North Yorkshire, including exclusively curated film shows inspired by and featuring archive film and television footage from across the region, brought to you by the Yorkshire Film Archive.
Audiences will also have the rare opportunity to see some great films from the BFI archive on the big screen, as well as classic features filmed in the County down the years, many of which were made by some of Yorkshire’s finest directors, including Ken Loach and Ken Annakin. The film screenings will be accompanied by introductory talks by film experts, and some very special guest appearances.
The events will take place at venues across North Yorkshire, including many of the village halls and community venues on the Cine Yorkshire rural digital cinema network, as well as full time cinemas, stately homes, a pub, and even a railway station!
Please browse the list of films on the right to see what's on- we look forward to welcoming to you to the festival!
