We're more than a little bit excited to be presenting a cinema programme at two of Yorkshire’s finest boutique festivals this summer! Cine Yorkshire will be returning to Deershed Festival in the stunning grounds of Topcliffe Farm, North Yorkshire in July, before making our first outing to Beacons Music & Arts Festival in Skipton in August.

The Forum in Northallerton is the latest venue on the Cine Yorkshire network to sign up to the incredibly popular NT Live programme. The season opens on Thursday 13th June with the five-time Olivier Award-winning production of The Audience, starring Helen Mirren in her Academy-award winning role as Queen Elizabeth II.

On Saturday 13th April The Forum in Northallerton celebrated its first six months under community management – and the launch of its new logo and website with an Open Day and Evening Gala Showcase, including a special guest appearance by the Forum’s new patron, world-wide acclaimed Mountaineer and author Alan Hinkes.

Funding is available to support the digitisation of European cinemas that show a significant percentage of non-national European films. The scheme funds the side costs linked to the purchase of digital projectors.Available budget for 2013: €4 million. The Commission reserves the right not to allocate the entire budget.

We're delighted to be joining BFFS at their second 'Cinema For All Roadshow ' in Sheffield next month and we would encourage Cine Yorkshire community venues and promoters to join us at what promises to be a great event, providing information, advice and encouragement to those already running film societies, pop up screenings and community cinemas, as well as those thinking about setting one up. The roadshow will be jam-packed with advice, support and invaluable tips to help you get started or develop what you're already doing. We'll also help you strengthen your links to each other and offer advice on how to set up peer-to-peer networks.

An exciting new distribution project means that for the first time, local venues such as village halls and community centres will be able to screen a groundbreaking feature film at the same time as the multiplexes! The story of the making of romantic comedy Tortoise in Love could be a film in itself.....almost the entire village of was involved involved; from the Women's Institute who did the catering through to the many villagers who put up cast and crew in their homes. Now the filmmakers want to distribute the film back out in the community by doing this part in a different way too.

Creative England, the industry support body for the film exhibition sector outside London, is calling for applications to the Film Culture Lottery Fund. A second round of funding is available for organisations such as cinemas, film archives, film festivals and the non-theatrical exhibition sector (mobile cinema and film societies).

As many of you will be aware, Cine Yorkshire Project Manager Emily Penn is off on maternity leave to be a full time mum for a few months! Emily's last day in the office will be Friday 4th May. Whilst Emily is away over the coming months, Rachel McWatt, who has previously worked on the project as Marketing Manager, will step in to hold the fort as Cine Yorkshire Project Manager.

Selby Globe Community Cinema was born from a love of film and lack of cinema provision in the Selby area that spanned over 30 years. A recent addition to the programme is the Silver Screen strand for over 50s.

Hambleton Forum takes up the baton from Whitby Pavilion to become Cine Yorkshire's second digital cinema venue! A state of the art digital projector, screen and sound system has just been installed, meaning that local audiences and visitors now have access to the very latest film releases at the standard you would expect from a multiplex cinema.
